NEW COMMUNITY LEARNING GARDEN

1 Acre of Raw Land was Purchased in July for the "Backyard Community Garden at St. Martin" - a Teaching, Learning Lab.

LOCATED ON THE BEAUTIFUL MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, just a short distance north U.S. Hwy 90 and Downtown Ocean Springs in the St. Martin - Gulf Hills Area, south of the Interstate. It's a short hop into the City of Biloxi and centrally located to the entire Coastal Mississippi Area.

ONE SMALL STEP FOR LOCALS...

This non-profit community project has been in the planning stage for over a year. Now the hard work and fun begins: carefully preparing and organizing the land, equipment purchases - oh my!  Still excited. Whew.

WE PLAN TO USE THE LAND FOR TEACHING THE COMMUNITY about how to develop their own backyards into food gardens and in doing self-sustainability projects like shallow water wells, solar, and other backyard projects. The Garden is like one big science experiment/lab with land. A Garden which we will document projects on video, youtube, on the website, and in books/manuals for the community to learn from. AND also spread through area workshops we hope to host.

THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THAN HANDS-ON LEARNING....

Well, that's the plan at least. It's going to take a lot of work and we will need a lot of help, but it's a good start.
